Apex Legends’ Season 8 Patch Notes: Fuse, Repeater, Kings Canyon Update

Apex Legends‘newest season is here, and it is arguably one of the biggest season changes the game has ever had. The Season 8 update will include Fuse, the game’s latest legend, the new 30-30 Repeater rifle, and a recently destroyed version of Kings Canyon, which should provide many new areas to explore.

The biggest new addition this season is Fuse, a legend completely dedicated to explosives. His passive ability allows him to hold more grenades than other Legends and throw them more accurately. His tactical ability is a cluster bomb that fires small explosions that can stun enemy players, and his ultimate ability brings down a missile defense that creates a wall of flame around a small area.

This season also brought some big changes to Kings Canyon, after a ship crashed on the map and destroyed several of its cities. Players can now explore new areas of the map, including Spotted Lakes, which has a sniper’s nest. In terms of weapons, Season 8 adds the 30-30 Repeater, a heavy-hitting, slow-firing rifle that has to comb another round in between each powerful shot.

Apex Legends Season 8 Patch Notes

Quality of life updates

Damage counter

  • We have now added a damage counter to the HUD. This was a much-requested feature, so we’re excited to make folks easier to follow for chasing those badges and challenges!

Ping ammunition

  • By pinging weapons or ammo in your inventory, quick chat will show your current ammo count along with ‘player wants ammo’.

Update for color blind

  • Healing and reviving will now follow color blindness rules when color blind settings are enabled

Lore Blurbs on Canon Skins

  • Some of our skins are canon and some are just for fun. For the skins that represent an important part of that character’s backstory, we’ve added a small blurb to describe the significance of that skin in the Legend’s life.

Legend Meta

Wraith:

Dev Note:

We know Wraith will always be a popular choice given the amount of combat features in her kit. After many tweaks to her skills and animations, the fact remains that her win rate remains on top, as it has been since day one. Season 7’s hit box tweaks to Pathfinder allowed us to control his power without disrupting his gear. We hope to do the same with Wraith.

Wraith now has a slightly bigger hit box than her fellow little legends, but the changes remain true to her model. Even with these changes, Wraith remains small and hard to hit. She will maintain Low Profile while we monitor her usage and profit rates to see if other ways of power return are available in the future.

Wal:

  • Sheila angle increases from 120 ° to 180 °
  • Wall health increased from 1 hp to 45 hp in the build phase (snipers still pierce)

Dev Note:

Rampart has been at the bottom of our performance statistics since its release. Her kit is built heavily around proactively establishing a powerful position, but in a game that moves as fast as Apex, we found that her walls need some reactive power as well. We keep a close eye on these.

Horizon:

  • Gravity Lift effective cooldown increased from 21s to 25s. The 15 second cooldown will now start when the gravity lift disappears.

Dev Note:

Horizon came out strong, to the point where it rivals Wraith in win percentage and pick rate. For now, we’re monitoring her usage and seeing if the cooling changes have a significant effect.

Octane:

Launch Pad Remastered: Many players may have known about Octane’s “super jump” that was possible with a well-timed jump while hitting the pad. Once the double jump option was introduced, there was an input clash leading to unreliable usage. We decided to add some launch options that are better defined than the old super jump.

  • Hitting the bouncer from a standing position launches players along a high arc (the speed and trajectory of the old super jump).
  • From a crouched position, players launch along a low arc, meaning they fly lower but farther horizontally.

Crypto:

  • Remove the ability to stick arch stars to friendly drones.

Loba:

  • Loot in unopened healthcare packaging is now visible with Eye for Quality and accessible through the Black Market Boutique.

Corrosive:

  • All gas will now disappear once Caustic’s team is out.

Mirage:

  • Mirage decoys create footstep sounds.

Dev Note:

This change was incorrectly mentioned in Fight Night’s patch notes when it actually came with this patch. Mirage decoys now have footstep audio in a limited capacity. There won’t be a tornado when an enemy Mirage comes close, but it should be a little more difficult to get the real Mirage from audio signals alone.
