Apex Legends Nintendo Switch file size revealed

After months of teasing, Respawn Entertainment finally revealed that last week Apex Legends will be released on Nintendo Switch in early March. The announcement finally brought relief to many who had been waiting for a specific launch date, but as we get closer to that time, others are starting to wonder how much space to free up on their Switch to install it. Fortunately, it looks like we now have our answer.

The official game page for Apex Legends The Nintendo website was recently updated to reveal that the Battle Royale shooter needs a whopping 30 GB of space on the console. While this isn’t usually very large on other consoles like the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X, it takes up almost all of the Switch’s internal memory. While this file size may seem quite concrete, it may also contain an error.

On the British Nintendo Switch website, this was noticed at one point in recent days Apex Legends only had a file size of about 15GB. Obviously, this is much better compared to what the US site is currently showing, but it seems that this 15 GB size could be incorrect. The page was later deleted and the file size with it has since disappeared. As such, it appears that 30 GB is the actual download size after all.

All of this simply means that if you haven’t cleared space on your Nintendo Switch in a while, now might be a good time to do so if you’re looking for Apex Legends next month. Conversely, if you also haven’t upgraded your Switch with an external memory card, you can always buy one. Micro SD cards are usually not too expensive and allow you to double the size of your Switch’s storage without breaking the bank.

As for when Apex Legends actually comes out on Switch, the game will finally release next month on March 9. As this date draws closer, we will be sure to update you on the Switch release of the game as there are any new developments.

So what do you think of this file size? Are you going to get frustrated if Apex Legends ultimately takes up so much space? Let me know your thoughts below in the comments or on Twitter at @ Jeroen1988.
