State Secretary Antony Blinken on Sunday condemned Russia’s treatment of protesters who wanted the release of Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny.
“The US condemns the continued use of harsh tactics against peaceful protesters and journalists by the Russian authorities for a second straight week”, he tweeted Sunday. “We renew our call to Russia to release those detained for exercising their human rights, including Aleksey Navalny.”
Thousands of Russians were arrested on Sunday during mass protests against Navalny’s imprisonment.
