If you have your copy of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, there should be an update that brings the game to version 1.9.0. Otherwise, you can manually activate the update by going to the game settings in the Switch Home Menu.
When you have updated to this latest version of the game, you will receive an anniversary cake in the mail. Aside from this, players can also look forward to Bunny Day’s return on April 4th, new season items, improved custom design, and much more.

Far. 1.9.0 (released March 17, 2021)
The software is updated if you select “Ver. 1.9.0” in the top right corner of the title screen.
General updates
- Bunny Day seasonal event has been updated.
- Additional support has been added for the Sanrio® Collaboration amiibo cards.
- New options for redeeming miles have been added to the Nook Stop.
- Custom Design Pro Editor +
- Adds additional custom design slots and new pattern options.
- Custom Designs Portal *
- Adds access to the Custom Designs portal from the Custom Designs app.

- Extra temporary seasonal items from Nook Shopping.
- Nintendo Switch Online Membership Item *.
* A Nintendo Switch Online membership (paid service) is required to use the Custom Designs Portal and obtain the Nintendo Switch Online membership item.
Resolved Issues
- Fixed problem with Ver. 1.4.0 where if a player were to use a wand to transform and then trade his wand for another item while his pockets are full, the player would no longer be able to remove the transformation outfit.
- Fixed problem with Ver. 1.7.0 with kits in which a player could dig where he normally wouldn’t if he changes his mind after using the “Let me introduce myself …” option.
- Other tweaks and fixes have been made to improve the gaming experience.
