Christmas is just one of the many annual events that are celebrated there Animal Crossing: New Horizonsappropriately branded in-game as ‘Toy Day’.

In this guide, we’ll take you through everything you need to know about the Toy Day event and the returning character Jingle.

Times for Christmas and Toy Day events

Toy Day festivities will take place on December 24th – Christmas Eve – starts at 5 AM and lasts 24 hours. There will also be special Toy Day themed music on your island – another indication that the vacation is on the way.

How to find Jingle

At the time of the event, Jingle the reindeer can be found outside of Resident Services, along with his bag of toys and goodies. There he waits for your help in making festive wrapping paper and handing out presents from Santa to the other villagers.

Everything you can do on Christmas and toy day

Below is a complete list of all activities you can participate in Toy Day – read on in the article for more specific details on each activity:

  1. Find Ringing for Resident Services December 24
  2. Unlock it Festive DIY wrapping paper recipe from Jingle
  3. Craft 3 of the Festive wrapping paper items and give them to Jingle
  4. To gain Toy Day stockings to hang in your house
  5. Get Jingle’s Magic bag of presents
  6. Visit each of your neighborsboth inside and outside their home give them their presents from the Magic Bag
  7. Get a reward (Gift stack) from Jingle after handing over a majority of the presents
  8. Receive a second reward from Jingle (Santa’s sleigh) after handing out all the gifts
  9. Exchange wrapped personal gifts with your neighbors afterwards to receive more color variations of Nook’s Cranny Christmas Toy Day items
  10. Hang up your Toy Day stockings in your house that evening on the 24th, and check them out the morning of the 25th to get Jingle’s Photo

How to make festive wrapping paper for Jingle

On Toy Day, Jingle will ask for your help first make some festive wrapping paper for Christmas presents. He will give you the DIY recipe for the festive wrapping paper and request to make 3 pieces for him.

To make every piece of festive wrapping paper you will need one of each of the different colored ornaments, which can be shaken down by the decorated cedar trees.

After you make the wrapping paper and present it to Jingle, he will give you a set Toy Day stockings – what can be hung on the wall in your house. Make sure you do that that night so you can view them on the morning of the 25th and receive Jingle’s Photo!

In addition, Jingle will ask for your help in handing out Christmas presents to the islanders, after which he will send you one Magic bag, with presents for all your neighbors.

Give Christmas gifts to villagers from Santa With Magic Bag

Unlike previous games, on Toy Day in New Horizons, Your neighbors will automatically receive a gift from the Magic Bag when you talk to them – no need to keep a list of hints or track down the items they like.

If the villager has a high friendship level together with you they sometimes give you a gift back! It will often be a different color variation from the toys you can get in Nook’s Cranny (see “Festive toys for sale at Nook’s Cranny“list below).

Although it is not a requirement wear a Santa outfit from the Able Sisters – as it was in previous games – by doing this, you get some cute reactions from your neighbors.

In addition, you can see how many presents you have left to hand out by clicking on the magic bag in your inventory. Do not forget it speak both to Jingle when you’ve handed out the majority of your gifts, and after distributing them all, for some special rewards!

Giving personal gifts to villagers after handing out gifts

After you hand out all the gifts from Santa, you can exchanging personal gifts with villagers. Make sure to wrap each item in wrapping paper (if you don’t have one, you’ll get some).

In return, they’ll give you different color variations of the toys available in Nook’s Cranny in December (see “Festive toys for sale at Nook’s Cranny“list below).
