Andrés Perea, Jesús Ferreira, Colombian team debut United States vs Trinidad and Tobago | Colombians abroad

The United States has started 2021 in an extraordinary way. Despite having only players from the local tournament (MLS), those led by Gregg Berhalter had no mercy with Trinidad and Tobago, beating them 7-0 at Exploria Stadium in Orlando (Florida).

While the bulky marker caught the attention of locals and strangers, another aspect filled Colombians with curiosity. Two compatriots made history with the North American team.

Jesús Ferreira and Andrés Perea made their debut for the United States. The first was a starter and a great figure of the game (two goals, three assists), while the second entered the 46th minute of play.

Ferreira was born in Santa Marta on December 24, 2000 and is the son of former member of the Colombian national team David Ferreira. His career as a forward began at the age of 17 with First Division Dallas, in 2018 he played on loan for Tulsa Roughnecks FC second and returned a year later with the ‘Cowboys’.

In his first game with the national team, he wore number nine, shined like no other, scored a double and provided three assists, that is, he directly participated in five of his team’s seven goals.

On the other hand, Perea, son of former footballer Nixon Perea, is 20 years old and has quite an interesting journey. Despite being born in Tampa, Florida, he made his professional debut with Atlético Nacional in 2017. Due to his tremendous performance, he was called up to the youth teams of Colombia to compete in the 2017 South American U-17, the World Cup. of that category in India and the 2019 U-20 World Cup in Poland.

In 2020, he completed his departure to Orlando City from the MLS, a team in which he played 28 games, including 11 as a starter. The above earned him to be called up to the USA and he just played 44 minutes in the friendly against Trinidad and Tobago.
