American Airlines starts a home wine delivery service with its unused product

With alcohol sales on board many airlines suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic, American Airlines has found a way to use its unused product by offering a new wine delivery service, the company reported Thursday.

The new program, called Flagship Cellars, features bottles from American Airlines’ wine collection that are commonly served to those who book ‘Flagship’ airfares – a luxury ticket option available only on international and transcontinental flights.

Consumers can choose from individual bottles that range in price from about $ 13 to $ 40, a mixed pack that starts around $ 50 and goes up to $ 400 for a champagne case, or opt for the $ 99 monthly subscription. variety of brands on offer, including Stag’s Leap and Castlenau.

“For wine enthusiasts around the world, wine provides a deeper connection to the places they love to visit,” said Alison Taylor, chief customer officer at American Airlines.

Members of the American Airlines loyalty program earn two miles for every dollar spent on the Flagship Cellars program, the statement said.

“We created Flagship Cellars to give customers more ways to enjoy our Flagship wine, even when they aren’t flying in one of our premium cabins,” an airline spokesperson told The Hill.

The program was also created to showcase the airline’s more luxurious flight offering.

“It also gives them a taste of what you can enjoy in Flagship First or Flagship Business,” an American Airlines spokesperson told CNN.

The company hopes the delivery service will bring in about $ 40,000 to $ 50,000 in the coming months, CNN reports.
