American Airlines and JetBlue implement codeshare agreement and add routes to Latin America and the Caribbean

JetBlue and American Airlines announced the launch of the first phase of “Northeast Alliance” – the new alliance between the two airlines announced last year.

With this new agreement, passengers will have more competitive options in New York and Boston as 80 additional routes are added in these cities. JetBlue, in turn, has announced 15 new routes, and together with American Airlines, the two airlines are adding 33 new routes as part of the first phase of the alliance.

Scott Laurence, JetBlue’s head of sales and planning, said this opens the door for JetBlue to successfully enter new markets, introducing more options and lower rates to more customers.

“The alliance is also essential for our aircraft to return to flight profitably and to get our crew back to work,” added Laurence.

For his part, Vasu Raja, Chief Revenue Officer at American, said this is the first step in delivering the best customer proposition with the largest network in New York and Boston. In the coming months, American will continue to create an experience that is easier for the customer, that supports the community, and drives further growth for the team.

The new inter-airline codeshare will take effect on February 25, with 18 alliance tickets available for purchase starting Thursday. Initially, the JetBlue code will be on more than 24 routes in the United States and the US code on more than 48.

They include point-to-point destinations within the United States and more flights to the Northeast, including connections operated by a combination of both airlines via Boston and New York.

JetBlue TrueBlue and US AAdvantage® program customers will enjoy the same benefits, with the option to earn points or miles with either airline, increasing the value of both loyalty programs for all travelers.

They can also redeem points or miles with some airline. Additionally, there are intentions for JetBlue Mosaic customers and America’s elite AAdvantage members to be recognized with both airlines.

The alliance between them allows for longer schedules and more frequencies from Boston and New York. These are a few options from April:
