The Presidency of the Republic reported that “alleged members” of the external sector of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), organized in the National Association of Academies of Municipal Municipal Police, have forged President Luis Abinader’s signature to create a body of municipal police.
According to the Presidency, this association establishes a body of municipal police outside the legitimate municipal authorities and violates article 173 on municipal police of Law 176-07 of the national district and municipalities.
They indicated that the National Police is investigating those responsible to bring them to justice.
“The signature of the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, on the identity cards of this organization, is forged. The National Police is investigating those responsible for promoting this illegal organization to bring them to justice and get the corresponding sanctions, ”said a statement released today.
Likewise, they stated that the National Association of Municipal Police Academies has no official approval or authority from President Abinader to promote a municipal police body.
“The municipal police is the organization with jurisdiction within the boundaries of the municipality, integrated into a single and specialized police for municipal affairs, of a hierarchical nature, placed with the municipal council and under the immediate authority of the trustee and under the professional technical supervision of the Ministry . of the State of the Interior and Police, ”they assured.
