Alec Baldwin amused by Gillian Anderson’s double accents

Alec Baldwin has something to say about Gillian Anderson using her American accent while accepting a Golden Globe Sunday for “The Crown” – a move apparently confusing to fans of her British work.

Switch accents? That sounds … fascinating, ”Baldwin, 62, tweeted Wednesday

He was just one of many to discuss Anderson’s regular Yank voice, and some could hardly believe that the 52-year-old Chicago-born and former “X-Files” star was even an American.

‘I was just dumbfounded to find out @GillianA doesn’t really have an English accent in real life, ” wrote a fan with another addition, “I feel so uncomfortable knowing that Gillian Anderson is American and not British.”

Anderson had a lot of time to hone her Brit accent as she lived in London for a number of years and has said in the past that she often slips back and forth between accents.

“Even on the phone my accent will change,” she told British newspaper The Telegraph in 2009.

Baldwin’s decision to tighten Anderson’s accent may be an attempt by the actor to cunningly defend his wife Hilaria Baldwin.

The 37-year-old mother of six was called up in December due to her shifting Spanish accent shortly before admitting her real name was Hillary. She also grew up in Boston unlike Mallorca, Spain, as she deliberately made people believe.

More recently, the couple shocked the public when they welcomed child number six, just five months after a son, Eduardo, joined their brood.
