Alabama No. 1 – The Athletic

The 2020 season is in the books. A season that no one knew would happen made it to the finish. From delayed seasons to non-delayed, staggered starts to canceled games, the number of games each team played varied widely. College football hasn’t had a year like this since World War II.

With Alabama’s victory over Ohio State in the national championship game, it’s time for the final edition of The Athletic 127. In a normal year, bowl games don’t fully represent a season. This is more true than ever this year when taking into account the number of games played and the players who have opted out. This has been the most difficult year to rank and compare teams. With some playing just three or four games and others playing more than 10 it’s really impossible to judge some teams properly, but I did my best. Some adjustments were made to teams that also didn’t play in the postseason.
