With the first pre-orders starting to arrive at customers around the world, AirPods Max are now also available for pick-up from the Apple Store and same-day delivery in select areas. However, supply appears to be severely limited, so availability varies greatly by city.
Through the Apple Online Store, AirPods Max will be backordered well into 2021, with Apple specifying delivery times between 12 and 14 weeks for most color variants. This means that store pickup is probably your best bet if you want to buy an AirPods Max before the holidays.
To place your Apple Store pickup order, simply go to the Apple Online Store or open the Apple Store app, go to the AirPods Max purchase page and choose ‘pick up in store’ at checkout. Keep in mind that because of COVID-19, many Apple Stores require appointments for pickup, along with other precautions such as mandatory masks and limited store capacity.
Again, keep in mind that availability is severely limited and your local Apple Store may have limited or no AirPods Max stock.
Apple also offers same-day delivery for $ 5 in select metropolitan areas. This is an excellent option to purchase AirPods Max from your local Apple Store without having to go to the store itself during the COVID-19 pandemic. Apple gives you a two-hour delivery time, but again, availability varies by city.
AirPods Max retails for $ 549 and comes in five colors: space gray, silver, sky blue, green, and pink. They include a Smart Case that puts the headphones in an “ultra-low power state that helps conserve battery when not in use”.
