According to people familiar with the matter, US carriers are on track to get $ 15 billion in federal aid to pay workers under the latest bipartisan coronavirus stimulus package.
Under the new round of support, hauliers would have to recall more than 30,000 workers given leave this fall.
The March CARES Act had allocated $ 25 billion to airlines on the condition that they maintain minimum service levels and keep employees on payroll through September 30.
The additional support for the troubled sector, previously reported by Reuters, would keep aviation workers on the payroll until the end of March.
