An Air Canada Boeing 737-8 Max on a test flight had engine problems forcing the crew to shut down one of the aircraft’s engines and crash land in Tucson, Arizona, Aviation24.be reported.

Shortly after takeoff, the crew received an indication of hydraulic low pressure in the left engine, the website said. The empty plane’s three-man crew initially decided to continue the flight to Montreal, but turned off the engine and took off for Tucson after an indication of a left-wing fuel imbalance, Aviation24.be said.

According to the report, the incident took place on December 22.

The US Federal Aviation Administration allowed the 737 Max to return to the air in November, after a 20-month hiatus prompted by a few fatal crashes. Boeing is seeking approval from other regulators around the world to relaunch the 737 Max, the manufacturer’s best-selling model.
