Aggressive squirrels terrorizing and injuring residents near New York

A New York neighborhood is being terrorized by hyper-aggressive squirrels. Watch a report on the rodent disaster here:

Some residents of Rego Park, Queens, are now afraid to go outside after a spate of squirrel attacks in the area.

Micheline Frederick is a victim whose bite wounds are still healing after being viscous.

She said to WCBS-TV: “You hear someone got bit by a squirrel, you say ‘Okay, you have a small nib, what’s going on?’ But this was … this was an MMA cage match! And I lost! “

“We’re struggling in the snow and there’s blood all over and my fingers are being chewed and it won’t let go.

“In the end it just stopped and I was in a big mess.”

As a precaution, Micheline was given a rabies shot after the attack on December 21 and tried to warn her neighbors – but there’s little that can be done if they strike.

Vinati Singh said the squirrels “go after people aggressively,” including her husband on two occasions.

He said, “He basically grabbed the plastic bag I had, tried to climb up on my leg. I could chase them away. That was the first time.

“The second time was here when I tried to get in.”

At least three other people in the area have reported being attacked by a squirrel, but it’s not clear if this is just one psychotic little guy or some sort of cheeky squirrel cartel terrorizing the neighborhood.

Traps have now been laid, but the perpetrator (s) have not yet been caught. Meanwhile, Anita Singh Sood is not taking any chances.

She told ABC7 NY, “If we have to leave the house, we have to bring one of Mom’s homemade pepper sprays to make sure – because when the squirrel comes up to us, we spray it.”

The NYC Department of Health said the squirrel / squirrels are unlikely to have rabies.

It said, “The NYC health department received a complaint about an aggressive squirrel in Rego Park and advised the property owner to hire a New York State licensed trapper.

“Squirrels and many other small rodents rarely appear to be infected with rabies.

“If New Yorkers think they’ve seen an animal infected with rabies, they should report it to 311.”
