After more than 14 hours of work, Firefighters continued to extinguish a fire in spare parts sales on Venezuela’s boulevard

For the extinguishing, a minimum of 500 cubic meters of water was used, which was transported through the fire-fighting tanks and supplied by ANDA pipes.

Fire department personnel were busy this morning removing debris after the fire that started yesterday at La Casa del Repuesto on Boulevard Venezuela, in San Salvador.

“With 21 hours of work, we removed and liquidated debris in a sector of the burnt structure in #BulevardVenezuela,” the institution reported on Twitter.

Earlier, at 11:50 am last night, the institution indicated that they had worked 14 hours in extinguishing the structural fire and that staff were taking over to continue the work.

It was also found that during the firefighting tasks a minimum of 500 cubic meters of water was used that was transported through the fire extinguishers, and that the ANDA pipes supplied several times.

Meanwhile, Civil Defense explained that more than 150 people from different institutions were participating in the work at that place.

“The level III structural fire in spare parts sales has been checked, the actions are aimed at suffocating the various materials that are still burning inside,” the institution said at noon on Thursday, always on its Twitter account. They even stated that it was necessary to “use foam for combustibles”.

The incident also involved a paint sale, and firefighters worked to keep the fire from spreading to homes and other nearby businesses.

On Thursday afternoon, they reported conducting “defensive maneuvers” to protect “some of the houses in Passage 1 of the Luz neighborhood, adjacent to the southwest side of the burned building.”

The flames started in the warehouse of the company’s second-floor facility, where aid workers went to work at around 10 a.m. on Thursday morning to try to suffocate them.

The warehouse stored “lubricants, all kinds of spare parts and new tires,” which “caused that thick black smoke,” explained the fire brigade’s source.

Some people who had a nervous breakdown or were affected by smoke inhalation were treated on the spot, one of the rescuers said.

About 22 firefighters worked in the area with “three units, a tank and outside support to provide it with spare parts sales,” the source said. At least two pipes from ANDA worked together, added firefighters’ director Edwin Chavarría.

When the fire broke out, the fire brigade asked motorists via his Twitter account to clear the road and the surrounding area to “prevent the passage of the units.”

The causes of the accident are currently unknown.
