Nintendo is known for provoking surprises, but few could have predicted this announcement. After three decades of Japanese exclusivity, Nintendo is finally coming out Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir and Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind in the West. As the names suggest, these were originally released on the Famicom, which is more commonly known as the NES to Western audiences.
Confirmed by today’s Direct, Nintendo released this PR statement shortly after:
Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir / Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind: Two deep parts of Nintendo from Japan are coming to Europe for the first time, localized with English text and fully modernized for Nintendo Switch. Twists, turns and drama await every corner in both thrilling games. Discover the deadly truth in Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir and Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind, coming to Nintendo eShop as a bundle on May 14. Pre-orders for the games are now starting in Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch.
Both games are being remade by developers Mages, which was previously announced in 2019. These original 8-bit adventures are faithfully recreated, both arriving on the Switch eShop on May 14, available separately or bundled.
