Adobe Photoshop and DaVinci fix updates rolling out with Apple Silicon support

Adobe is rolling out a Photoshop update to provide native support for Apple Silicon, promising users 1.5x faster performance than running the software through Rosetta emulation.

photoshop m1 beta feature

In November, Adobe released Photoshop with ‌Apple Silicon‌ support in beta. Now, with the latest v22.3 update announced today, Adobe is officially adding Apple Silicon support.

While Photoshop runs natively on M1 Macs, there are a few caveats. Users have the option to run Photoshop as a native Apple Silicon app or under Rosetta emulation. However, certain functions are not available in native mode. Adobe says the ability to import, export, and play embedded video players is not supported under Apple Silicon and other features such as preset sync, shock reduction filter, and “Share an Image” button are currently not working.

Adobe also lists some known issues that beta users have reported for native Apple Silicon support. Adobe says the ability to copy / paste edits between an Adobe app that runs natively on Apple Silicon and one that runs on Rosetta emulation is currently not supported. As a solution, Adobe recommends that users run both applications in the same mode, either native Apple Silicon or Rosetta emulation.

In addition to ‌Apple Silicon‌ support, the March 2021 update will contain general and expected bug fixes and improvements. Adobe Creative Cloud customers can update Photoshop with the Creative Cloud Mac app.

Updating: Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci Resolve has also been updated to version 17.1 with ‌Apple Silicon‌ support, as noted by The 8-bit
