WASHINGTON – The White House said Thursday that direct payments of $ 1,400 for most Americans, funded by the US bailout plan, will appear in bank accounts as early as this weekend.

Press Secretary Jen Psaki said the government will make the first direct deposits this weekend. She says the payments will continue in the coming weeks.

President Joe Biden signed the US $ 1.9 trillion bailout in the Oval Office on Thursday.

In addition to $ 1,400 direct payments to individuals, the plan includes money to distribute coronavirus vaccines, provide assistance to homeowners and renters, help reopen schools, provide assistance to state and local governments, and expand children’s tax credit.
