According to preliminary results, New Ideas won 17 of San Salvador’s 19 mayors

ARENA retained its mayorship in Ayutuxtepeque, while Guazapa remained with the PCN mayor. The two mayors who failed to defeat New Ideas.

Until 3 p.m. Monday, the site for the transmission of results of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) reported that in San Salvador, the New Ideas party was made up of 17 mayors from the 19 municipalities with the most populous El Salvador branch.

The San Salvador head was won by the New Ideas-GANA coalition, with 61,001 votes, equivalent to 89.2% of the minutes counted to 3 p.m., ousting ARENA Mayor Ernesto Muyshondt.

Mario Duran, Former Interior Minister and former councilor of the San Salvador Mayor’s Office in the Nayib Bukele City Council, he would lead the capital’s municipality from May 1.

San Martín, Panchimalco, Aguilares, Tonacatepeque, Santo Tomás, Santiago Texacuangos, El Paisnal, Rosario de Mora, Ciudad Delgado, Soyapango, Cuscatancingo, San Marcos, Ilopango, Mejicanos, Nejapa and Apopa, go into the hands of new ideas or the NI coalition -WINS.

In Mejicanos, mayor Simón Paz of the FMLN was not re-elected. In that municipality, Nieuwe Ideeën also won in coalition with CD.

Fidel Fuentes, one of the symbolic mayors of the FMLN in San Marcos, would be overthrown by Nuevas Ideas.

While other municipalities held the same mayors, these are: Guazapa, who decided to keep his mayor, José Armado Barrera, of the PCN, in the office of his municipal mayor.

Ayutuxtepeque also remained in the hands of the current mayor of ARENA, Alejandro Nóchez, who is on his fourth term in the municipality.
