Accidents leave at least two dead during Christmas in El Salvador | News from El Salvador

A motorcyclist was killed in a traffic accident on Carretera de Oro and the driver of a vehicle was killed in another incident in Morazán.

According to reports from aid organizations, a series of road accidents were registered during the Christmas celebration in El Salvador.

At least two people died and several were injured in the events that have taken place in various parts of the country in recent hours.

A spectacular crash between a pickup and a sedan-style vehicle occurred early this Friday on the Ruta Militar highway, in front of the National Institute of El Divisadero, in Morazán, the fire department reported.

In that case, the driver of one of the vehicles was killed and the other injured. Authorities suspect the incident was caused by an incorrect speed.

The mortal victim was identified as Miguel Ángel Flores Reyes, 27. Firefighters used their hydraulic equipment to recover the body of the young man trapped between the car’s twisted irons. The injured person was taken to the National Hospital.

Meanwhile, an unknown motorcyclist died after being hit by a motorist in the early morning hours at miles 14 and a half of the Golden Highway, Rescue Command reported.

The National Civil Police (PNC) controlled traffic in the area while processing the incident that occurred in the section leading from Soyapango to San Salvador, the Deputy Ministry of Transportation reported via its Twitter account.

Injured accidents

The Salvadoran Red Cross said it treated 24-year-old motorcyclist Luis Alcides Campos, who was injured in an accident on Chiltiupán Street and 17 Avenida Norte, in Santa Tecla, La Libertad. The young man was transferred to San Rafael National Hospital.

Another incident occurred this Friday morning at kilometer 45 of the Troncal del Norte highway, near the Colima Bridge, where a truck driver hit a private vehicle.

Red Cross sources confirmed that five people were injured, including two minors and one elderly. The victims were transferred to the Aguilares clinic and he added that they would be referred to different hospitals.

In the same case, Cruz Verde Salvadoreña sources said they were helping César E., 27, who was rescued from his vehicle’s twisted irons. The young man was transferred to the general social security system in San Salvador.

“After we rescued him, we proceeded to immobilize as he had an exposed fracture in his right knee and other possible fractures in various parts of his body,” he said.

Cruz Verde also reported an accident near the Emmanuel community on Monseñor Romero Boulevard. At the location, he treated a motorist who had been injured. According to the emergency services, the driver refused to be transferred to a medical center.

There was also a traffic accident on the highway to Puerto de La Libertad, in the area known as ‘El Papaturro’.
