About 13,400 people will receive the COVID-19 vaccine in Puerto Rico

The State Secretary of Health, Iris Cardona, reported this this morning since last Tuesday to today, Friday, some 13,400 people have been vaccinated against the COVID-19 on the island.

According to the official, all the first doses of the drug developed by Pfizer and BioNTech that arrived on Tuesday have already been distributed among the 65 hospitals on the island. The official said they could also take the vaccine to a number of medical care centers.

Pfizer-BioNTech’s vaccine was found to be 95% effective in clinical trials, while Moderna’s was 94.1% effective, experts said. Both require the patient to receive two doses.

The Department of Health this Friday reported 1,250 confirmed positive cases of the virus, so the total of the results in this line comes to 63,075.
