Abinader starts with the extension of the Ecological Avenue; will have a toll

President Luis Abinader gave the first word to begin the expansion works of the Ecological Avenue which will run from June 30th Avenue in the city of Juan Bosch to the multimodal port of Caucedo.

This is the third palazo to be delivered by the president in Santo Domingo Este in less than a week. Last Thursday and Friday, the expansion of Coronel Fernández Domínguez Avenue (San Isidro) and Hípica respectively began.

The extension of the Ecológica will, as indicated by Minister of Public Works, Deligne Ascención, have an investment of 2,700 million, of which 540 million will be immediately available before the start of the works.

The viaduct will be built with funds from the RD Vial trust.

The minister said this highway will bear tolls and will weigh from the Samaná highway with Juan Pablo Segundo to prevent heavy vehicles from entering the city.

He emphasized that passengers arriving via America’s International Airport will benefit from transfer times upon completion of this project.

The work, of approximately 11.7 kilometers, will increase the mobility of freight and passenger transport to international destinations and to the regions of Yuma and Higuamo.

The project will benefit more than 857 thousand people living in the area and will create 1,549 jobs during implementation.

The construction, which will be carried out in two years, consists of two sections, one is being developed in an urban area with a length of more than 963 meters, while section II, located in a rural area, has a length of 9.7 kilometers with 4 lanes, two of which with the circulation direction.

“That is only in the part that goes from Samaná to there, from here to Samaná it will be a normal lane, but especially for heavy vehicles going to the multimodal port coming from the ring road, we will have to pay toll because we have to avoid the entry of heavy vehicles who feel encouraged to enter the city, “the minister said when approached by the press at the end of the deed because of the confusion caused by the announcement of the new toll.

The minister has not specifically stated where it will be located or the costs users will pay for its use.

Ascención guaranteed that for the continuation of the avenue the toll will mean a saving for the transporters.

“In a way, this will generate savings for the carriers who use it and at extremely accessible prices, just like those controlled and managed by the Ministry of Public Works.”

He explained that this road prevents vehicles from getting stuck in city traffic, which saves fuel.

“These roads, the throughput and traffic of heavy vehicles, first provide you with a fuel saving that translates not only into better environmental quality, but also the economy of the country in general,” he said.

He pointed out that this is likely a work of greater impact than the work done in the country over the past 25 and 30 years.

Regarding the completion of the section of Ecological Avenue that includes Charles de Gaulle Avenue to the city of Juan Bosch inaugurated by the previous government if the works are still complete, he said it will be completed along with the expansion works of the via.
