President Luis Abinader has announced two salary increases so far this year for officers who look after national security and public safety, with the reference to the three military estates being the most recent announced by the president.
The president said this salary increase has been provided to agents of the National Police and the military, taking into account their work on the streets of the country for the benefit of the security of the citizen.
In the case of the National Police, a common man who previously earned RD $ 10,150.42 will now earn RD $ 14,210.59; a line from RD $ 11,600.38 will increase to RD $ 16,240.53; a sergeant goes from RD $ 13,050.73 to RD $ 18,271.02; a sergeant major goes from RD $ 14,300.98 to RD $ 19,306.32, while cadets go from RD $ 12,500.56 to RD $ 16,250.73
In the case of the second lieutenants who have now earned RD $ 15,600.26, they will earn RD $ 20,900.26; the first lieutenants receive an increase from RD $ 18,001.32 to RD $ 23,401.72; a captain goes from RD $ 21,000.82 to RD $ 26,251.03; a higher one goes from RD $ 22,426.15 to RD $ 28,032.69; a lieutenant colonel of RD $ 25,875.02 reaches RD $ 32,343.78; a colonel of RD $ 29,375.03 reaches RD $ 36,718.79; a grand from RD $ 41,030.04 to RD $ 45,133.04; the inspector general and the assistant director of the PN were brought from RD $ 68,782.36 to RD $ 75,660.60, and the general manager from RD $ 89,963.50 to 98,959.85
In addition to the salary increase, the government has determined that passage will be free on the OMSA buses, the Santo Domingo metro and the funicular.
In addition, the health insurance for the police is added, that from a basic plan of the National Health Insurance (Senasa) the more than 39,000 police officers will be affiliated with the maximum complementarity.
Salary increase for the military
On the issue of the members of the National Army, the president has not yet specified exactly what the increase of this body will be, but he has said it will take place in February.
With this salary increase for all agents of the Air Force of the Dominican Republic and the Dominican Navy and Army, the salary increase will be completed for all of the country’s military bodies.
The president said, “We will improve the quality of life of the armed forces so that they continue to serve as they have done so far.”
The head of state added that he also plans to improve the physical structure and conditioning of equipment in the Ramón de Lara military hospital. He pointed out that plans for next July are under consideration.
He also added that he will restore what has not been done for about 16 years, the custom of making an annual donation to all personnel of the three armed forces. The statements were unveiled in the square of the first army brigade.
The Chief General of the National Army, Ernesto Florián Pérez, expressed his gratitude to the president for taking them into account for the salary increase.
“Mr. President, here are your soldiers to whom we pledge loyalty, thank you for caring about your troops, thank you for providing us with a dignified and adequate work environment,” he said with well-being.
