A week in the WallStreetBets forum that launched the GameStop Frenzy

In a video posted to Reddit’s WallStreetBets forum, a man with swinging arms races down a long, steep slide before crashing into the muddy ground. He then sits up, numb.

The title of the video: “A WSB-hyped stock as soon as I buy it.”

The meme is a hit and shoots up to the top of the subreddit page. “Buy high, sell low, right?” one user replied.

The tongue-in-cheek meme has some truth to it. In recent weeks, many stocks that WallStreetBets had sent “to the moon” have crashed to Earth. Forum favorite GameStop Corp. closed at $ 52.40 on Friday after an intraday spike of nearly $ 500 just over two weeks ago.

What follows is a five-day diary of chaos and jokes on WallStreetBets (we can’t publish all the blasphemy).
