A tentative magnitude 4.8 earthquake shakes Puerto Rico on Christmas Eve

A tentative magnitude 4.8 earthquake was recorded in Puerto Rico this afternoon, the Seismic Network confirmed.

At the moment there is no warning or tsunami alarm.

The earthquake’s epicenter was located 12.91 kilometers south of Guayanilla, near the seismic zone where vibrations have been generated since last year. The depth of the earthquake was 2 kilometers, according to the Puerto Rico Seismic Network.

The maximum intensity of the earthquake was tentatively recorded as V in Yauco.
