A migrant died while attempting the border between Mexico and the United States through a network of sewers adjacent to the border fence in the vicinity of San Ysidro, California, Mexican authorities reported this weekend.
According to local media, a group of at leasts 20 migrants they stayed caught up in a sewer system while trying to cross the border heavy rainfall ptower for a rise in water level near the port of San Ysidro.
“During a review, in a context of intense occasional rain, the agents of the border Patrol detected the presence of one person down the drain, so they opened the gates that give access to the area. US authorities have the rest of the migrants whothat were held for them subsequent deportation. One of the undocumented fI was transferred to a san diego hospital where he died hours later.
The US and Mexico have warned risk migrants to cross the border sewer network stating that currents are to strong.
