A passenger who panicked from an airport in New York just before his flight opened the plane’s emergency door and used the slide to get out with his partner and the pet they were carrying, a Great Dane, which they had on Tuesday retrieved Local media.
The spectacular incident occurred on Monday, when a Florida couple, Antonio Murdock and Brianna Greco, were on board a Delta Air Lines plane about to take off from LaGuardia Airport, serving New York with destination to Atlanta.
Apparently, a panicked Murdock opened the forward cabin emergency door, activated the emergency slide opening system, and jumped out with his wife and dog, NBC6 South Florida reported.
Morgan Durrant, a company spokesperson, explained that the device had to be returned to the boarding gate after the event and passengers were transferred and accommodated on other flights.
According to witnesses, the pair had changed seats several times until a flight attendant ordered them to remain seated before the plane took off. It was then that Murdock got up and, very upset, told the assistant that he was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.
Murdock, 31, and Greco, 27, were arrested at the airport and subsequently charged with reduced charges. The woman was released with a fine and the dog was transferred to an animal shelter.
