A broken wrist would end the season for Charlotte Hornets forward LaMelo Ball

Charlotte Hornets forward LaMelo Ball could miss the rest of the season with a broken right wrist, a source told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Hornets announced Sunday night that Ball was undergoing an MRI and an initial diagnosis revealed a broken bone in his wrist. The team said Ball would be “listed as inactive indefinitely” and additional updates would be provided when available.

Ball, considered a favorite for the NBA rookie of the year, is seeking a second opinion to confirm the diagnosis, a source told Wojnarowski.

Ball, 19, appeared to be injured in a fall at the start of the game during Saturday night’s 125-98 loss to the LA Clippers. He played a lot in the second half, despite clearly struggling with wrist discomfort, finishing with 13 points.

Ball, the younger brother of New Orleans Pelicans guard Lonzo Ball, averages 15.9 points, 5.9 rebounds and 6.1 assists on the season.
