Singer and songwriter David Summers was in an interview in the program, ‘El Hormiguero’, on Antenna 3 where did you talk to the journalist? Pablo Motorcycles of his musical career, of the experiences he has gained over all his years of career and of the new projects coming in with the band in 2021. Amidst the stories he told, there was one in particular that caught the world’s attention and it was about his visit to Colombia.

The singer of the legendary band said that during his presentation in Medellín there was one of his biggest followers, and that although they did not meet him in person, they knew he was the most wanted drug dealer in the world, Pablo Escobar. The man said that when they arrived in the country, they knew they were traveling in Pablo Escobar’s ‘government’, “Yes, there were pica pica powders …”, the man joked in his anecdote.

“That was great, we weren’t afraid because we were unconscious, we were assholes. I’ve always thought about why my mother let me go to Colombia. We were in the hotel room and we heard gunshots in the street. That happened to us in Venezuela too, we heard gunshots, looked out and saw a goddamn uncle, “said the leader of the Madrid pop rock band,” Summers confessed.

According to the artist, although it was not public, the businessmen made it clear that Pablo Escobar himself was behind the concert and the biggest sponsor of the two dates in Medellín, so much so that after the first show they took the drug dealer’s daughter to the dressing rooms. of the band so you could have your picture taken with them.

“We played in the Medellín arena for two days in a row and the promoter in the shade was Pablo Escobar. We knew, but he was in the shade. In fact, his daughter came into the dressing room with some bodyguards to take a photo with us and we knew it was the daughter of the ‘king’ of Medellín, ”he added.

But the story didn’t end there, apparently Pablo Escobar wasn’t the only admirer with illegal affairs the rock band had in Colombia. The man said the recognition by the music saved them from being kidnapped by paramilitaries on a highway in Cali.

“After a concert in Cali, they took us to a party on a farm on the outskirts. At one point I was very tired and at two in the morning I wanted to go. Then someone who was there told me he and his sister were going to town and if I wanted they would take me to the hotel, ” said the Hombres G singer.

On the way, they fell into a checkpoint of a group of men in uniform who, with firearms and pointing them in the face, asked where they were from and where they were going.

“On the way, some armed paramilitaries blocked our way and the diplomat David Summers came out, I said, ‘Look, I’m from Hombres G, we played in Cali …’ And the boys said, ‘ah, Hombres G’. And that saved my life, because I’m talking about guys pointing a gun at us for half an hour, looking for us and searching all over the car, ” Summers confirmed.

For now, this band, which is one of the most iconic in the history of Spanish music and rock in Spanish in the world, is preparing a new tour and the next release of their new album, which will be titled Rowland’s Corner.
