This ‘special’ 812 Superfast is Ferrari’s car with the highest revs

We don’t know yet what this new iteration of Ferrari 812 Superfast will be called, so let’s call it the Ferrari 812 ReallyVerySuperfast for a while. Especially since the most powerful Ferrari road engine ever built under that new hood.

The 6.5-liter V12 of the ‘regular’ 812 – also known as A Masterpiece – has modified many of its components. There is new valve timing, a new exhaust and the use of state-of-the-art materials.

This has enabled the liberation of even more horsepower. The 812 Superfast delivers 789 hp. This 812 ReallyVerySuperfast produces 819 hp, a jump from 30 hp, and reaches up to 9,500 rpm – also the highest rev ever on a Ferrari road bike. So high that you suspect it will change your own DNA, and may even give you super powers.

Continue. Ferrari assures us that it is more than just a power car: it is lighter, has independent steering on all four wheels and introduces version 7.0 of Ferrari’s Side Slip Control hero mechanics – sorry, ‘vehicle dynamics’ system.

The entire body has been carefully researched and subtly redesigned for better aerodynamic performance and more downforce. Changes include new front air intakes, a new carbon fiber ‘blade’ cut over the hood (so that it looks shorter and the car looks wider), three vents / slashes on the rear arches, and a new rear diffuser and exhaust setup.

Ferrari has also replaced the rear window with a piece of aluminum, featuring everyone’s favorite partygoers, vortex generators! Yes, they improve aero efficiency, but more importantly, they just look really cool. They just sit in front of a new rear spoiler that is higher and prouder than before. Inside remains broadly the same except for a new lighter door panel and ‘H-gate theme’ on the tunnel, although a paddleshift box remains.

“The new model is the ultimate expression of Ferrari’s concept of an extreme front-engined berlinetta,” explains Ferrari, “honing the attributes of the acclaimed 812 Superfast to a level never seen before.”

The Ferrari 812 ReallyVerySuperfast will of course be built in limited numbers and we will have the full debriefing next month. In the meantime, read our 812 Superfast review here.
