In a statement to FOX 13, the department said 53 people were injected with ‘saline’ and not the vaccine on Saturday, due to a mixing error at the county ‘s Farmington clinic. The person who administered the incorrect vaccine was new to the process and immediately contacted the clinic leaders.

The department said most of the 53 people have already received a third injection with the correct vaccine dose.

“This is a very rare event, but everyone is human and everyone makes mistakes, and this is a mistake that the health department admits,” the department said.
