The confirmation that The flash will bring Michael back, as Batman is from The Wrap, who got the word out directly from Keaton’s talent agency, ICM Partners. And so ends a weird period where we no longer knew Keaton was in the movie, but thought he might not be in the movie, and then immediately knew he was in the movie. News of Keaton’s involvement in the film first broke out in the summer of 2020. A month after that news, the online DC FanDome had a panel dedicated to The flash with concept art in which Keaton’s Batman clearly fights to the side Ezra MillerBarry Allen / The Flash.
With all that, it really seemed like this was a done deal. But last month, Keaton himself threw in a key. The actor gave an interview to Deadline in which he made it sound like he hadn’t agreed to anything yet, and he was still weighing up because of COVID-19. ‘To be honest, you know what worries me most about all these things? It’s COVID, ”said Keaton. ‘I’m more concerned. I keep an eye on the COVID situation in the UK more than anything else. That will determine everything, which is why I live here out of town on 17 acres, stay away from everyone because the COVID thing really worries me. So that’s my first thing about all projects. I watch it and go, is this thing literally gonna kill me? And you know, if not, then we talk. “
But now all of that is a thing of the past, and Keaton has been confirmed for the movie.
