Netflix is releasing Love, Death and Robots season two trailer and teasing a third season

Love, death and robots returns to Netflix on May 14 for “Volume 2,” said a new trailer the company released today. The science fiction anthology series originally debuted in 2019 and was extended for more episodes that same year. Now Netflix is showing a new batch of episodes and more teases for 2022.

The joy of a good animation bundle is its grab bag quality – experiencing a variety of stories created in different styles. The original trailer for Love, death and robots played out the frenetic, over-stimulating feeling sometimes associated with ‘the future’, but it seems that Volume 2 is taking a different path, focusing on the drama and seriousness of the stories of these new episodes and the trailer scored with a song from the horror movie Hereditary

If last season was any indication there will of course have been some misses mixed with the hits, but this seems to be an intriguing collection of episodes. The episodes will explore all sorts of wild things like alien space whales, stop-motion Christmas, a giant foot, and that aforementioned dog poo robot.

A notable unknown is whether Netflix will continue to A / B test the series, displaying the episodes in different order to see which ones get the most clicks. The company tested four different episode orders with the first season, something it never would have admitted if it weren’t initially charged with targeting based on viewers’ sexual orientation. The specific claim that Netflix takes sexuality into account was denied by the company and never independently verified.

Love, death and robots Part 2 will premiere on May 14. Netflix says a third will arrive sometime in 2022.
