On March 26, San Francisco surrendered four draft picks, including their first-rounders in the next three drafts, to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for the third pick. The team is expected to select a future replacement for Jimmy Garoppolo, with Alabama’s leading candidates being Fields, Lance and Mac Jones.
Jones was the betting favorite for being the third pick until Fields’ practice last week. Oddsmakers then placed the former Ohio State Buckeye at the top of the list. Lance’s training on Monday could have a similar impact.
The 2021 NFL Draft kicks off April 29 from Cleveland, Ohio.

It’s been nearly two weeks since NFL Media analyst Lance Zierlein released his latest mock concept. In it, he had the San Francisco 49ers select Trey Lance of North Dakota State with the # 3 overall pick instead of Justin Fields of Ohio State or Mac Jones of Alabama. While Zierlein’s colleagues Steve Wyche and Maurice Jones-Drew made excellent arguments for Fields as the choice of San Francisco, Zierlein stuck to his choice of Lance and defended the decision during a segment on the NFL Network. “This is the man who should be San Francisco
