Rapper Black Rob takes his last breath at 51

Rapper Black Rob, who rose to fame with his 2000 single, Woah, died at the age of 51.

The tragic demise of the Harlem rapper, born Robert Ross, was confirmed by his former label mate Mark Curry who turned to Instagram on Saturday with a moving tribute to him.

“Rob passed away about an hour ago,” a tearful Curry said in the video. “I don’t know where to start, but I thank everyone for the donations. We’ve lost a lot [of] legends and we can’t afford to lose anymore, ”he added.

Previously, Curry had started a GoFundMe page for Ross to help him “find a home, pay for medical attention and stability in these troubled times.”

The crowdfunding campaign was launched after concerns about the rapper speaking from the hospital last week about the late DMX in video messages that also described his own financial and health-related issues.

‘I’ve been dealing with this for five years. Four strokes. I don’t know what to tell you … I don’t have a house to live in, ”Ross said.
