LSU’s Spring Game concluded at Tiger Stadium this afternoon with the white team beating the purple team, 23-14.
There were a few standout performances, most notably receivers Kayshon Boutte and Jontre Kirklin.
Boutte got a beautiful throw from Myles Brennan for a touchdown of 39 meters. He finished the game with 11 catches for 162 yards and a touchdown.
Is Kayshon Boutte the next elite LSU WR 👀

“We showed ourselves,” said Boutte after the game. “We could improve in some areas, but all in all, we did well as a unit.”
Jontre Kirklin also had a day to himself, catching 16 passes for 209 yards and two touchdowns.
Kirklin’s showing today was important as the LSU strike will truthfully need a few guys to get into the receiver position this season.
Head Coach Ed Orgeron spoke about the LSU wide receivers after the game ”
“We need a lot (wide receivers) to show up”
#LSU WR Kayshon Boutte says, “I’ve always had the feeling that (Jontre Kirklin) was being slept on.”
Boutte says he thinks Kirklin could be one of the best receivers on the team.

The biggest storyline to get from today’s spring game – LSU’s defense looks much better. Defense coordinator Daronte Jones had his men run across the field and compete every time. It was a refreshing scene to watch when you think back to what this defense was missing in 2020.
“Let me tell you something, this Daronte Jones is a talented, talented soccer coach.” Ed Orgeron said after the game.
Cornerback Dwight McGlothern has suppressed the wide receivers during today’s game. He was active on every route, hopping in and having four pass break ups, three tackles of which one was lost.
“Dwight (McGlothern) had a great day today.” Ed Orgeron said after the game.
Defensive tackle Jaquelin Roy led the team with three sacks. Roy looks like he’s picking up where he left off since last season, but as he moves into his sophomore year it becomes more apparent that things are starting to click together for him.
Derek Stingley Jr. was also his usual me in today’s game. Intercept TJ Finley with a dive catch. Stingley Jr. and wide receiver Kayshon Boutte were fighting and competing throughout the match.
“Derek Stingley, I think, is the best corner in America,” said Orgeron.
It’s just one spring game, and there’s still a lot to do before week one.
Still an encouraging start to the football season.
