In the municipality of Baní, the mayor of the city of Santiago, Abel Martínez, met with mayors and directors of district administrations of the region of Valdesia, consisting of the provinces of Peravia, Ocoa and Azua, and with local leaders of the Partido de the Dominican Liberation (PLD), to whom he presented his presidential project in the 2024 national elections.
Martínez assured that launching his presidential proposal so early is only meant to bolster his party’s presence in popular consciousness and spread the message of the great work of the government that the PLD has done.
Among other things, he highlighted progress in Danilo Medina’s governments, economic stability, the establishment of the extended school day, the 911 system.
Likewise, he criticized the PLD’s distancing from society in its 20-year reign, errors he assured will be corrected on this new route that “that organization travels from this IX Congress which is in its final stages.”
He took advantage of the event to demand from President Luis Abinader’s government the allocation and delivery of more resources to the country’s congregations, which he says are going through a very bad time with their administrations due to the lack of economic resources and the lack of financial resources. great commitments they have to the municipality.
Martínez lashed out at the current government for saying “they don’t know how to govern” and exemplified agricultural producers of carrots, peppers, onions and others, which he says give away their crops because they have no market. or fair prices, while instead the basket family skyrockets and the prices of construction industry items go up every day, as well as fuels and others.
Abel Martínez was accompanied by members of the PLD Political Committee; the former senator of Hato mayor Rubén Cruz; Rafael Hidalgo, former Mayor of the City of Azua and former President of the Dominican Federation of Municipalities (FEDOMU) and members of the Central Committee, among other personalities.
In attendance were Ramon Santos, President of the Municipal Districts of the Dominican Federation (Fedodim); the Mayor of the Municipality of Matanza, Susy Pérez; Yeison Guerrero, from Santana, includes directors of the district councils of Baní, Ocoa and Azua, as well as councilors and members of the Valdesia region and middle leaders of the PLD, among others.
