The Tribeca Film Festival announced this Friday that it will open this year’s edition, celebrating its 20th anniversary, with the highly anticipated film In the Heights, an adaptation of what was the first musical written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, responsible for the successful Hamilton.
For the first time in the history of the festival in New York, which will be held this year from June 9-20, the film will be screened simultaneously on the first night of the show in the five districts of the city, in different locations around the fresh sky.
But the main event will take place at the United Palace in Washington Heights, north Manhattan, which will also celebrate the world premiere of In the Heights, a film with a Latin twist that revolves around the lives and concerns of various characters they live in. . the Washington Heights neighborhood of New York, where Dominican immigrants are concentrated.

Although it was supposed to hit theaters in June 2020, that launch was suspended due to the coronavirus without a new date being reported at the time.
At the beginning of this year, it was announced that it would finally hit theaters in June, although it was only announced this Friday that it would premiere on June 9 and that it would get such a prominent role at the Tribeca Film Festival.
After the presentation in the sample, In the Heights will be shown in the cinemas of EE from June 11, and 31 days later on the platform of HBO Max.
So far, the Tribeca Film Festival has not announced which films will participate in the event, or which film will close out this year’s edition, which takes place two months later than usual.
Like many festivals, the one in Tribeca initially had to suspend the 2020 edition due to the coronavirus pandemic, which was later celebrated in a fully digital format mid-year.
