Warner Bros. and legendary Godzilla to Kong is ready to easily repeat on top of the register for the third time.
The film fell nearly 57 percent last weekend as it came out of the Easter frame and some fan-powered front-loading, landing it at the lower end of expectations in its second performance. Even without the studio’s reported dailies this week, there’s no reason the film wouldn’t be heading for a pandemic-best third weekend that would surpass Tenetlast September $ 4.7 million.
The likely results based on the current models for the third frame of the monster showdown are between $ 7.5 million and $ 10 million.
Elsewhere, holdover preservation should remain intact for most major releases. The average weekend-to-weekend decline during the April 9-11 period was less than 10 percent for the rest of the top 10 films. With a few more Regal locations opening this weekend and no significant competition entering the market, there is little reason to expect sharp declines. Theater numbers also remain largely stable.
However, one factor to consider in the race for second place may be No one‘s release on PVOD this Friday. Either that the box office appeal softened just enough or not to go after Disney’s Raya and the last dragon and / or Sony’s The Unholy remains to be seen, but it has developed very encouraging legs so far.
As new releases come, the standout in a limited footprint will be that of NEON In the earthSadly, the studio has not confirmed the exact number of locations, although The Boxoffice Company’s Showtimes Dashboard records no less than 527 for the weekend – indicating a likely total close to or over 550. That could potentially be enough. are for an opening weekend near or between the top ten.
Looking ahead, next Friday is the launch of Warner Bros. latest day-and-date experiment with a well-known brand in the form of Mortal Kombat, while Sony’s FUNinmation made the domestic debut of Demon Slayer: The Movie – Mugen Train – Japan’s greatest blockbuster of all time.
This weekend versus last weekend
Due to the lack of significant new content to hit screens, Boxoffice will make the top ten films this weekend decrease between 25 and 30 percent of last weekend’s top ten at $ 25.2 million, the second-best count of the pandemic era after the previous Easter weekend.
