Around 6pm Jesus Fichamba was transferred from Bicentennial Municipal Hospital from Guayaquil to Teodoro Maldonado Carbo, because of his critical health condition.

His daughter Maria Jose Fichamba, confirmed to the newspaper that his father was taken to this health center where he is in an induced coma after his health deteriorated in Bicentennial Hospital, where he had been admitted hours earlier.

“You have to pray and ask God to pick you up from where you are and to get better. At the moment it is in a critical condition “said his daughter, from outside the hospital, located south of the city.

In the course of the afternoon the news spread that Fichamba had died, so Gustavo Pachecho, musician and friend of the artist recorded a video in which they denied what was noticed by social networks.

“The news that Fichamba has passed away is not true, he was shot in Teodoro Maldonado an hour ago (the video was shared at about 6:50 PM). I’m here with his two daughters, they are going to intubate him, so let’s just wait for them, your prayers. That’s all. Thanks ”, said the artist as well.

According to Pacheco, Fichamba had been fighting COVID-19 for two weeks, showing improvement and recovery; but about four days ago his health fell back. So, along with one of Fichamba’s daughters, they did the paperwork to hospitalize him. “When I was fired, he came to me with open arms and tears in his eyes, the least I could do was pay back that affection for years to come.”

Jesús Fichamba represented Ecuador in 1985 at the OTI de la Canción Festival in Spain, where he took second place with his traditional interpretation of La Pinta, La Niña and Santa María An experience in which Pacheco was also a part and led the orchestra of 47 musicians.
