On Tuesday, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro announced that the company’s theme parks have added inclusion as one of their core values.
In part, this means that amusement park employees have more flexibility in their dress code, especially in terms of personal expression.
According to D’Amaro’s announcement, Disney will allow employees to have more “gender-inclusive hairstyles, jewelry, nail styles, and costume choices.” Cast members may also display “appropriate” tattoos.

D’Amaro said the company is updating its policy “to not only remain relevant in today’s workplace, but also to enable our cast members to better express their cultures and individuality at work.”
“Looking ahead, we believe that our cast, who are central to the magic that lives in all of our experiences, can deliver the best of Disney’s legendary guest service when they have more options for personal expression – a richer, more personal and engaging outcome. guests, ”added D’Amaro.

In his announcement, D’Amaro said inclusion would be added to Disney Parks core values - formerly “The Four Keys” – including safety, courtesy, show and efficiency. Now the parks will have five “keys”.
“Inclusion is essential to our culture and moves us forward as we continue to realize our rich legacy of compelling storytelling, exceptional service and Disney magic,” wrote D’Amaro.

Disney has already started adding more inclusive attractions and experiences, D’Amaro said. The company has opened a new jazz exhibition in Epcot and is updating other attractions, including Jungle Cruises and Splash Mountain.

The company is also adding more diverse businesses to its supply chain and aims to “support and elevate our communities” through mentoring programs, the blog post said.

“Our goal is also to have greater representation and accountability across our organization, starting with my own leadership team and expanding our business globally, through tools and mentorship and learning programs that create awareness and promote leadership,” wrote D ‘Amaro.

At the end of the blog post, D’Amaro said Disney Parks is “committed to listening, learning and making meaningful improvements.”
“The world is changing, and we will change with it, and will continue to be a source of joy and inspiration to the whole world,” he added. “We will never stop to make sure Disney is a welcoming place for everyone.”
