DMX’s fiancé Desiree Lindstrom gets a tribute tattoo in honor of the deceased rapper

DMX’s fiancé Desiree Lindstrom got a tattoo in honor of the late rapper who died Friday morning.

DMX – whose real name was Earl Simmons – and Lindstrom share son Exodus, 4, whose name was on the late rapper’s neck.

As a tribute to the late “Ruff Ryders’ Anthem” rapper, Lindstrom got a tattoo that read “Dog Love”, which is also the name of a song he released in 2006, with an “X” in the same font as the rapper uses to style his name. She had the ink done through Black Ink Crew artist Krystal Kills.

Days before DMX’s death, Lindstrom, the star’s ex-wife, Tashera Simmons and Lindstrom attended the vigil to pray for Simmons and his recovery.

“We are deeply saddened to announce today that our beloved, DMX, birth name Earl Simmons, has passed away at White Plains Hospital at the age of 50 with his family by his side after being placed on life support for the past few days,” said his family in a statement to PEOPLE.

The rapper and actor were hospitalized in intensive care after suffering a heart attack at home on April 2.

“Earl was a warrior who fought to the end. He loved his family with all his heart and we cherish the time we spent with him,” the statement continued. “Earl’s music has inspired countless fans around the world and his iconic legacy will live on forever. We appreciate all the love and support during this incredibly difficult time.”
