Tegucigalpa, Honduras
The leader of the Salvador party of Honduras, Salvador Nasralla, and the general coordinator of the Partido Libertad y Refundación (Libre), Manuel Zelaya Rosales, renewed the will to re-form an oppositional alliance against the ruling National Party ahead of the presidential elections in November this year.
Both opposition politicians agreed on a television program in which they smoothed out difficult spots and left open the possibility of uniting in a party political platform, as they did in the 2017 general election when they faced the current president of the republic. Juan Orlando Hernández.
“Xiomara’s victory in the Freedom and Refoundation Party is unquestionable, so she is ready to form an alliance,” Nasralla said.
The popular sports and political commentator suggested to the former president Manuel Zelaya Rosales (2006-2009) and all Libre’s militancy to join him to form an opposition bloc that will confront the National Party.
“Just as they invited me when I didn’t have a match, I say to them today: Welcome! Join us to save Honduras,” he said.
After the Opposition Alliance’s defeat in 2017, both political leaders distanced themselves, to the point that they asked each other about the role they played after the presidential election in which President Hernández was elected.
