Pharrell Williams has called for a federal investigation into Virginia Beach police who shot his cousin last month.
‘Too many unanswered questions about city and state. I respectfully call for a federal investigation, ”the Grammy-winning singer wrote in an Instagram post on Monday of the fatal March 27 shooting of his 25-year-old relative, Donovan Lynch.
Lynch was shot by police about a block from a separate Virginia Beach shooting that injured eight people.
Virginia Beach Police said Lynch was armed with a gun when an officer shot him.
The bodycam of the officer who fired the deadly shot was not turned on during the shooting, causing public outrage.
Investigation into the shooting by the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney and Virginia State Police is ongoing.
A native of Virginia Beach, Lynch had been an offensive lineman for the University of Virginia’s College at Wise during the 2017 and 2018 seasons, graduating from the school in 2019.
