New York Yankees get Rougned Odor from Texas Rangers

The New York Yankees are finalizing a transaction to acquire infield player Rougned Odor from the US, sources told ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

The Rangers are expected to absorb nearly all of the $ 27 million owed to Odor, the sources said. They owe you $ 12 million this year, $ 12 million in 2022, and a $ 3 million exit purchase within a $ 13 million club option in 2023.

Odor spent the past seven seasons as the starting second baseman for the Rangers, but an attempt to transfer him to third baseman ended when Odor failed to make the team on the Opening Day-roster.

27-year-old Odor led Texas with 30 RBI’s in 38 games during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season and played 10 home runs alongside Joey Gallo, the team’s best. But Odor hit only .167, with seven of his 11 hits in September as home runs, and he hit 47 times in 138 at-bats. He batted .205 in a full season of 2019. In 858 games for the Rangers since his debut in 2014, he hit .237 with 146 home runs and 458 RBI’s.
