The issue of minutes ending the ‘legalization’ begins

The chairman of the Central Electoral Council (JCE), Román Jáquez Liranzo, reported that in about a month and a half, the 165 offices and service centers will be able to issue valid civil status documents that do not need to be legalized.

Jáquez Liranzo gave the explanation Monday morning at the Civil Registry Office of the 10th District of the National District, where the pilot plan was officially launched and the first validated minutes were issued.

“From this moment on, they will also circulate these minutes with the QR code and the number bar that will serve for the receiving entity to certify that the certificate is certified, they will circulate along with the previous model for up to a month, month and one month. half we can equip all prosecutors, ”said the president of the JCE, adding that staff working in foreign offices are already being trained so that the system can be implemented in the coming months.

Jáquez recalled that a few weeks ago the agency had issued a notice to the Department of Foreign Relations, the Attorney General’s Office, the Supreme Election Court, the Department of Education, Science and Technology, the Banking Supervisor, the Directorate- General Passports, General Directorate of Migration, General Directorate of Retirement and Pensions, Dominican Bank Association, Dominican League of Savings Associations and Major League Baseball (MLB) on the process and that the matter had been socialized since January.

First beneficiary

The first beneficiary was Ricardo Antonio Báez, a young man who was given an extract of his birth certificate for passport purposes.

“I arrived here at 8 AM and by 8:05 AM everything was ready; This used to be all a matter of a week, ”said Báez, who had recently completed the process at this office.

Everything goes so fast, that in the beginning the user verifies the information with a representative of the JCE, then pays 400 pesos at the till for the issue of the document and then prints, validated. This process started in six official offices and two service centers and the rest will be gradually integrated into the process.

As a result of the pilot plan launched by the Central Electoral Council (JCE), these validated minutes will have a security number and an event number, as well as a QR code, validation check number and consultation information, by which entities requesting official documentation will be able to web portal to confirm that the issued document is true.
