The Director of the National Police (PN), Edward Sánchez González, said all protocols of action taught to members of that institution were violated in the murders of the couple, Elizabeth Muñoz and Joel Díaz, on Tuesday of the week. in Villa Altagracia.
He assured that the acting police officers did not clean the vehicle the couple was in, they were not invited to lower the windows, identify themselves, among other steps to follow.
“All protocols of action have been violated, there are no excuses, the fact is that should never have happened, the lives of the members were never in danger,” he said in an interview in the Report with journalist Alicia Ortega.
Sánchez said the order issued by National Police officers was to stop a white vehicle that had committed criminal acts in Bonao and therefore a warning was issued and a checkpoint installed. He assured the complaint was a stolen card.
“When we started the investigations, we realized that too much had been committed, the departure of the police was not in danger, the lives of individuals were not in danger, there was no attack on the patrol, in which case the checkpoint that responded to a warning of some of the robberies that had taken place. A white vehicle was being chased. The data they initially collected because there were people who had gone to report to the Bonao crew that a white vehicle with different elements stripped them of a passage, ”he assured.
Sánchez González said the case is still ongoing, where parallel investigations are underway to impose a disciplinary penalty.
The director of the National Police said testimonials of the investigation will be “soon” public and that all internal responsibility of “superiors and members who acted will be cleared up”.
Elizabeth Muñoz and Joel Díaz were murdered by members of the National Police on Tuesday while traveling in their car, a white Kia, after returning from a Christian vigil.
For this death, the police suspended César Martínez Lora, Victorino Reyes Navarro, Domingo Perdomo Reyes, Norkys Rodríguez Jiménez and Ángel de los Santos, Anthony Castro Pérez and Juan Manuel Ogando Solís.
Luis Abinader later asked Interior and Police Minister Jesús “Chu” Vásquez to cancel those involved in the incident.
