Social media superstar Addison Rae is breathlessly heralded as a totally new type of celebrity for the Instagram era.
But in some ways, it seems, she uses the same old tricks as her ancient ancestors.
Rae, 20, has been in New York lately, and while she’s certainly produced a lot of her own #content for her own social feeds, Page Six is told that – in a move straight from the introductory course at the Kardashian Institute of Advanced Fame Graspery – her team has also tipped off the plain old paparazzi about her whereabouts.
And it seems to be working. While we’re told she’s stayed in a relatively off the beaten path hotel – as in, not one of the porridge hangouts like the Mercer on the Greenwich – she’s cracked all over town anyway.
We are told that Rae seems especially interested in making sure her style is well documented by the press.
Rae’s prehistoric ancestors – who mastered the use of rough stone tools and BlackBerrys – were known to capitalize on the then booming gruel industry by calling their favorite photographers to Fred Segal wearing a Von Dutch cap.
Rae is a famous friend of the Kardashian clan, so she might get tips.
