Credible leaker l0vetodream today endorsed widespread speculation that one of the recently redesigned iMacs, expected to be released sometime this year, will have a larger screen than the current largest offering in the iMac series.
Apple currently sells 21.5-inch and 27-inch iMac. Rumor has it that Apple is replacing both with updated designs and faster performance. The desktop computer has not undergone a major overhaul since 2012.
According to 10vetodream, the new model that replaces the 27-inch format will have a larger screen. The private tweet translates to “The screen of the iMac is really big, bigger than the biggest”.
Although new information, the larger display size can easily be expected. Bloomberg has reported that the new iMac will have thinner bezels, metal chin removal and a design language similar to the Pro Display XDR. The Pro Display XDR, Apple’s standalone high-end monitor, has a 32-inch screen.
In addition to a new design, the new iMac will be equipped with next-generation Apple silicon chips. According to Bloomberg, Apple is internally testing chips with no fewer than 16 high-performance cores and four efficiency cores. Hit-and-miss-leaker Jon Prosser also suggests the new iMacs will come in colors.
